Responding to a need, reaching out to the poor…

Thirumalai Mission Hospital

Over the years, its commitment and activities have grown, touching every aspect of rural life – health, education, economic and social… “Bringing the rural poor together, in building their own future.”

Strives to liberate families from the evils of alcohol
  Gives assistance to disabled persons
Functions as a facilitator of change

TCT started its rural activities in a small dispensary in June 1983. It began its community-based work in 1989, in four hamlets with women volunteers. Today its activities span over six blocks of Vellore District, covering and 1,25,000 households.

With the belief that rural growth must come from within the community, TCT has equipped the local communities by
training women health volunteers and developing village
action groups for each of its programmes. TCT has built a
high degree of awareness on nutrition, health, hygiene, alcoholism, disability and women's status in society...
all with the active involvement and support of the
beneficiaries and community, ensuring sustainability.
