TCTs womens development programme is implemented through village based Savings and Credit Groups. Twelve to twenty poor rural women in a village are organised into a Group / Sangham. From the beginning they are trained to manage the Group within a framework of rules and regulations. They meet on a fixed day and time in the week, collect savings and loan repayments, approve loans for members and disburse them. After they learn to manage the money and ensure loan repayments, external loans from TCT or Banks is organised for them. The loan may be taken for any purpose, but over a period of time, more productive loans are encouraged. The Sangham operating in the village becomes a nodal delivery point for most of TCTs activities. |

TCT has been operating this programme since December 1994, and it has been growing steadily in size and outreach, making this the main focus of TCTS activities. |
